Masterpieces from the Uffizi on show in Forte dei Marmi
Great names of modern and contemporary sculpture take part in the exhibition “Vie della Scultura” held until 27th October in Forte dei Marmi and which aims to celebrate those artists who had a special relationship with the Versilia.
Twenty-six works are on display, more than half of them signed by authors of the calibre of Giacomo Manzù, Hidetoshi Nagasawa, Henry Moore, Mimmo Paladino, Louise Bourgeois and Jan Fabri, just to name a few.
The exhibition itinerary consists of a portrait/self-portrait combined with a sculpture from the territory, thereby witnessing the deep bond of these contemporary artists with the area. Works also come from the Uffizi stock; i.e. from the storage of the well-known Florentine Museum which preserves masterpieces of great value, albeit perhaps less known.
From the Uffizi Gallery to Forte dei Marmi and back again: the show aspires to the dual aim of celebrating Forte dei Marmi, as a fundamental place for sculptors who came here looking for marble, excellent craftsmen and landscapes ranging from the Apuan Alps to the Tyrrhenian Sea, whilst also offering visibility to treasures which have not yet found an ideal location in the prestigious Uffizi Gallery.
